I am a greek american living in greece...I really think that greece is a good place to raise kids since it is still relatively safe here compared to other countries...although it is a bit expensive you can find inexpensive things to do and buy if you search around!

Have spent over 10 months on four different trips to Greece.. Mostly in the Aegean Isles. I like Kalymnos cause its cheap and the beaches and the night life is great. Food is very good, especially if you like Greek Salad, French Bread, Wine and/or Beer. On the negative side, sidewalks are generally narrow, the streets are quite often in disrepair, and the plumbing is not always as nice as you would like to have it. Public Restrooms are rare. So you need to use the ones at the hotel, restaurants, tarverns, etc. Most beaches will have one here and there. I Cr 13;8a 11-12-6

depends on where you go, athens is a lot like big cities all over the world, the islands r packed with tourists in the summer, if you are an american (usa) you will have a moderate to difficult time adapting to the living conditions in the winter because of the way it is in the usa cheap electricity, gas, propane etc .. it is not so cheap there. i was stationed on crete and in nea makri for a total of 8 years, not al at once, and some day plan to live on crete
