I think its a completely different world. Not as bad, actually it can be wonderful depending where you live (downtown Athens is a nightmare) and how much greek tv you watch! People can be extremely friendly as long as they connect somehow to you. A trip to the non touristy villages of Crete can shed tons of light to your question.

different world, depends where you go. most places are typical, work during the day, rest in the afternoon, work again at night. laid back yet busy. dont have to be rich. in the big citys like Athens, it multi cultured like NYC. gotta be careful like anywhere else, lots of illegal immigrants coming into Greece also for work , but there isnt any work.

A complete and utter waste of one's time. Worry, fear, loathing, stress, and, devastation. Try the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia instead.
