What is the best way to send chocolate covered strawberries to someone living in Greece

What is the best way to send chocolate covered strawberries to someone living in Greece?
I live in the U.S. and have a dear friend staying in Greece for the summer. I want to send her chocolate covered strawberries to her house, but I am having trouble finding companies that with service this request, domestically or abroad.

The only way to ship said item is with a "Dry-ice" courier company. Which means your present is packed in a tri-wall dry-ice container and shipped on an overnight service to Greece. An extremely expensive way of shipping anything - mind you it works perfectly every time. The courier company supplies the container and the dry-ice. Try contacting Jag Express, part of the Biocair Group, they have an office in Boston MA - they will give you a quote.

Dry Ice would freeze the strawberries so that when they thaw they would turn to mush, this happens every time you freeze a strawberry. The dry ice also ruins the taste of the berries, they turn sour when they get that cold. All countries stop fresh fruit from being brought in to prevent the spread of pests, think about every international flight you have been on: they ask about fresh fruit every time. Trying to sneak it in by using an express shipping company could result in huge fines for the company that shipped them & lieing on an export declaration can also land you in expensive hot water. Chocolate Covered Strawberries are extremely perishable. Even in the U.S. you'll find that the companies that make and ship them only use overnight service because they go bad so quickly. The gel packs used to keep them chilled only last about a day. Any time a strawberry is not between 34-40 degrees it looses a days shelf life for each hour it's too warm, and that's before it's dipped. After it's dipped they go bad even faster since the chocolate shrinks and squeezes the berry. Because of import restrictions on fresh fruit and the inability to freeze them you'll need to find a local source (inside Greece) or switch to something less perishable/ without import restrictions.
