Turks in Greece live in the Western Thrace, That's the very northern part of the Greece. Greece calls them Muslim minority where they identify themselves as Turks, normally. They are numbered around 200.000 and Turkish politicians visit them time to time. Komotini (Gümülcine in Turkish), Aleksandroupolis (İskeçe in Tr) are where Turks live in Greece. Thx to the population exchange after Greece failed to invade Turkey, Greeks and Turks who are Greeks orthodoxes of Anatolia left for Greece and Turks and a part of Jews left for Turkey. A Turkish community does not live in Athens. During the population exchange Greeks of Istanbul stayed in Turkey and Turks of the Western Thrace stayed where they are. Greeks massacred or exiled all the Turks and Jews after they gained independance in 1821 in the southern part of Greece anyway, so since around 1821 no Turkish community lives there. Edit: Vasiliki I did not say no one who is Greek did not get killed in Turkey. Tho yours was a total "success" after 1821. Besides I'm talking about a particular subject in here and explaining something particular, I cant delve into a 180 years matter in 1 paragraph as u would accept. About 90.000-120.000 u gotta be right. Because Greece cancelled the citizenship of 60.000 Turks. According to a Greek law, if anyone who is not Hellen from race stays outside Greece too long, his/her citizenship can be canceled. A very European, democratic approach really. They abolished this code but they did not let 60.000 citizens back to citizenship of Greece.

I had a Turkish homeowner that sold their house to me and they decided to go to Cyprus (Greek side) to live. Apparently the man had many homes in both Turkey and Cyprus that he'd use either for work or vacation.
